Often I am asked, "What kind of doctor are you?" I generally like to say, "I'm a caring, fun doctor." This response catches people off guard because they are really asking "What is your medical specialty?" Then I explain that my first hope for a patient is to be a friend, to learn and care about the patient. I also encourage the patient to be active in creating a healthy life.
